Since we didn't know how to make one, Andrew told us to go to aircommand.com to find out the procedure of making a parachute. Once we had read enough, we were ready to go on to the first step which was picking out a thin plastic material. We decided that a plastic bag would be ideal, so we got one and cut it into an octogonal shape. Next, we punched eight holes and and cut 8 pieces of fishing wire. We put all 8 pieces of string inside, tied them together, and finally connected the parachute with the cone.
One problem we came across was that we tried gluing the parachute to the inside of the rocket with wood glue, but figured shortly after that it wasn't effective. we also tried attaching the parachute itself to a paper and then glue the paper to the rocket. However, we found that didn't work either and as there wasn't much class time left, we decided to leave it for until tomorrow.
